Starward Solera Single Malt
Single Malt — Victoria, Australia
Reviewed December 23, 2020 (edited January 25, 2021)I’ll be honest, this one is a little difficult to put words to. Initially, the nose wasn’t giving me much other than some dried coconut and nail polish remover but it took on far more complexity after the first sip - more brown sugar and sherry notes. Not overly smooth in the mouth but still a good flavor with more of the sherry notes carrying through and some burn on the finish. -
Yellow Rose Premium American Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — Texas , USA
Reviewed December 23, 2020Corn on the nose, not a super surprising or distinctive drink with a fairly light mouthfeel and a little lingering burn on the finish. -
Blair Athol Sherry Matured 5 Year Old Provenance
American Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed December 15, 2020A very bright, perfumey nose with wildflower. A little bit of burn on the palate due to the young age (5 years) and ABV of this Scotch. Very little finish. Not anything to write home about but enjoyable to sit and drink. -
Upon pouring, you immediately notice the huge legs in the glass (which is surprising for this Scotch that comes in at just 40%). I’m picking up grape (like an artificial grape), sweet fruits and oak. It’s smooth on the palate but I’m not picking up some of the things I caught on the nose. After a couple of sips you start to get more sweetness but there’s still a strong oak coming though in the palate. Not a long finish but still very enjoyable.

Port Dundas 13 Year Old 2004 Old Particular
Single Grain — Lowland, Scotland
Reviewed December 14, 2020Not my favorite. I’m getting nail polish on the nose. A pretty thin mouthfeel for the age, doesn’t linger very long on the palate. Fairly underwhelming although more sweetness does come through after a couple of sips. -
