Blackened X Wes Henderson (Master of Whiskey Series)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 8, 2023Hard to drink this and not sing Metallica in your head. This is a really solid bottle. I had the opportunity to taste it a year ago in a local liquor store. Celebrity brand of one of my favorite bands, Metallica. This has an awesome apple note on the nose and finish, it’s a really great blend all together of spice and fruit. I picked this up cheaper than Specs had it for at Total Wine and I definitely think it’s a very smooth bottle considering flavor and finish. I see a lot of people hating on the price tag of this one, but I feel like your paying a little more for the name then the price. In all honesty I feel like it’s worth $75 than the listed $103. But I will let you decide.93.0 USD per Bottle -
On the Nose: Really beautiful nose here. I’m actually impressed given the price point. Lots of citrus on top of apple spice and minty fresh leaves. Palate: Pretty soft on the palate maybe some applewood, this was hard to figure out. Finish: This is a really smooth whiskey it goes down very easy and leaves almost a mint note with a soft butter pecan note. Overall pretty good, with there was more on the finish. But the nose is really solid and a fan of this for the price point.

Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed May 22, 2023 (edited May 23, 2023)Tried this on the rock, not something I normally do but I be had Smoke Wagon before and wanted to try it this way. Nose: This is pretty nice as I got the spice I expected from Smoke Wagon. Palate: This is the best element here for me personally. This has a really deep butter vanilla taste that’s really pretty nice. Finish: here’s where I think it could have been better. This for me is a light taste almost very faint fruit notes but it doesn’t stay around long enough to taste. -
Droptine 12 Point Bourbon Finished in Brandy Barrels
Bourbon — (finished in) California, USA
Reviewed April 10, 2023Nose: Deep plum and apple notes. Also a rich hint of butterscotch. Palate: This is a great palate of a caramel apple like you’d get at a fair ground with a citrus twist. Finish: Buttery sweet and smooth. Got a little orange on the tail as well. This one surprised me, I picked this up looking for a new bourbon to try under $50 and this delivers. Lots of fruit and festive notes.41.0 USD per Bottle -
Plantation O.F.T.D. Overproof Rum
Navy Rum — Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 10, 2023 (edited August 25, 2023)Had some of this neat and in a cocktail. Definitely preferred drinking it neat, that’s just me. But got a lot of great flavor out of this. Lots of banana mostly. It’s also a really sweet tasting rum. Definitely some spice on the finish which helps round out how sweet this tastes. Definitely a solid sipper or mix. Coming from a bourbon guy, I really enjoyed this for a rum. -
Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 2, 2023 (edited May 28, 2023)This is a great summer Scotch or just one to have with desert after dinner. It’s light and fresh and doesn’t have a heavy cream profile. On the Nose: Green apple jolly rancher and green grapes with a nice smoked apple wood note. Palate: Grapes and citrus Finish: A nice smooth light finish like sugar cane with a great fruit flavor. Gave this a review a while ago, now have gotten to give it a good review. The more I try this the more I’m into it. It has that great springtime feel and that easy finish. -
On the nose: I get a deep fried Oreo on the nose, definitely that cookie flavor coming out. Really kind of liked that. On the Palate: Brown sugar or cake batter one of the two got both on different tastes. Finish: Lots of flavor here, which is a good thing. Brown sugar with hints of spice I liked the mystery behind this one. Love that cookie and cream taste and brown sugar.

Been a while since I have re visited Sazerac so this may be updated from my last review One the nose: I get that Vanilla cinnamon Buffalo Trace taste. On the Palate: Light taste of an herbal tea flavor. Pretty light on the taste hard to find some of the notes. Could be better in the taste here. Finish: Cinnamon and a nice Rye burn. Also that after taste of charred barrel vanilla. Not bad definitely a great affordable daily drinker. Not bad but lacks some flavor on the finish and the overall taste. The nose was my favorite of these three categories

RANCH REGULATOR 8 YEAR BOURBON
Bourbon — Texas (distilled in Georgia), USA
Reviewed January 21, 2023 (edited February 6, 2023)On the nose: Really beautiful sweet tea note. As someone from Texas this is a great point for me Palate: Very high cinnamon Finish: Can’t quite place the finish, almost like a butterscotch maybe. The higher proof hides the finish. But would love to hear your thoughts.
