Interesting cross between a scotch and a rye. Super creamy mouthfeel. A drop or two of water adds more zest and herbal notes. 3.6.

Butterscotch and light wisps of orange marmalade? Woody and fairly well balanced flavor profile. A little bit of spice/bite, but nothing overwhelming. A couple drops of water adds some nice herbal/tea leaf notes. 3.7.

Some serious burn on the nose with butterscotch coming through. Moderately spicy and intense. Gets oilier as it sits, almost a citrusy flavored oil to it. One of my favorite moderately priced, relatively easy to find bourbons. Water doesn’t seem to make a huge difference.

2017 AJ’s barrel selection. Moderate spice. Light wood. Thinner mouthfeel (no legs). Not much in the way of complexity. A drop or two of water seems to benefit the mouthfeel and brings in some citrus nuances. Letting it sit even longer brings out an even thicker mouthfeel and some light brown sugar on the nose. Certainly solid for the price, but leaves me wanting.

Spicy! White pepper bomb. Has some of the sweetness I expected, but not the richness and thicker mouthfeel. A couple drops of water adds some butter and cuts edge off spice. Settles down nicely. 3.88.

Light tea leaves on the nose. A little thin but has a nice, woody sweetness. Super low ABV (40.5). Don’t hate it. 3.62.

Light copper color. Butterscotch and caramel on the initial nose, and then sugar cane and candied pear. Salty cigar and tea leaves dominate taste profile with accents of peat. Some pepper, light cinnamon and spice. Very complex. Super unique. A blend of malts and grains aged in ex bourbon casks. 3.85.

Rusty orange/copper in color. Nose is more like something I’d expect from a wine/cognac. Creamy mouthfeel with light sweetness and a mild, woody fruit flavor. A very pleasant entry into Irish Whiskey.
