Tastes

The nose is a little underwhelming.. with that being said this is easily my favorite purchase so far. On the palate.. fresh berries and smoke, as if you were to spread some berry jam over a campfire.. the smoke lingers elegantly. A truly remarkable whisky that I'll treasure for as long as the bottle lasts.

Not your typical Laphroaig.. the subtleness of the second fill port cask marries nicely with a more salty smoke.. with a beautiful tobacco note on the finish.

The tropical fruits.. mainly pineapple.. mesh nicely with the ardbeg smoke.. a lighter smoke given the age.. the chili isn't present upon the initial taste, however there is a pleasant lingering heat spice on the finish. Given how steep the price is I wouldn't get it again, but I'm still happy I have it.. a lovely dram and definitely worth tasting

The classic Ardbeg campfire smoke married perfectly with a succulent chocolate note, and while there isn't much else going on besides that, for a 5 year old whisky this is mighty fine

The peat is on the back adding nice depth to an already playful amount of fruitiness up front.. supremely balanced.. one of my favorite non-scotch whiskies to date

All the highland park notes you'd expect.. with nice red fruit from the Rioja casks.. and a nice smoke finish.. again as expected.. lovely

A nice spice hits you on the front foot.. leading you into a delicate yet firm smoke complicated by sweet red fruits.. well rounded and delicious
