Tastes

Slight sherry imprint from short time in cask. A little sweetness and not much burn. A little raisin or fig flavor.

Decent, but not worth the $40. More to be had from Compass Box for the money, otherwise either spend a little more or stick to a good bourbon. Strong apple aroma, but doesn't come through on the palate. Simple but not offensive.

Ron Swanson knows what he is talking about. Decent burn, traditional flavor, and a good helping of smoke. Peat doesn't overwhelm, which is appreciated. Not much fruit and a good go to if you're tired of sweeter scotches.

I can't stand the smell (peaty), but damn... that taste. Genuine whiskey flavor, just enough peat, and a hint of smoke. Flavor hangs around just long enough.

Absent on the nose, but very noticeable spice. Leather and wood abound. Sweet only on the finish. Decent linger, legs are short.

Inoffensive and smooth. Hard to say what it's personality is, but it is a good entry in to "good" scotch at a little over $100.

Three stars because of the price. Honestly? Not all that bad. The flavors aren't complex, but the citrus and honey are welcome and noticeable. Beginners usually have a tough go at learning scotch due to the price barrier for something "good". I'd give this to an amateur without a moment's hesitation.

Slight peat, but not disagreeable. Irish whiskey flavor is unmistakable, which makes the peat a welcome companion. Supremely smooth, but not especially challenging to drink.
