Probably one of the hardest whiskies to embrace upon first sip because it’s so different. But like a challenging movie at first viewing, you might find yourself appreciating the creators’ efforts the more time you spend with this blend of three French malts. As one reviewer stated....it’s French and I definitely pick up a culinary approach to this blended malt. Some mussels, good crusty bread, and a dram of Bellevoye I think would be very enjoyable together.

Chivas Regal 13 Year Manchester United Special Edition
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed February 15, 2020 (edited March 25, 2020)Subtle apple, sweet honey, a touch of cinnamon and a wee rye peppery finish. Enjoyable for non-scotch lovers I would suspect, but if you’re a single malt lover you best not be distractible because you might find it overly polite. -
Canadian Club Classic 12 Year
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed September 21, 2019 (edited August 31, 2020)It’s all a matter of perspective. When one calls this whisky lacking complexity another can call it highly refined. When one says it’s missing character another can call it exceedingly smooth. To me, CC 12 is probably one of the most refined, sophisticated whiskies available. Does it have bold flavors? Not at all. Does it grab your attention? It’s too well-mannered for that. What you have here is a pure expression of an elegant Canadian...it’s polite, smooth, and refined. If you seek a brown spirit that will not offend, then look no more, CC12 is it. What Crown Royal claims, CC12 delivers. -
Martell VS Single Distillery
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed September 21, 2019 (edited October 29, 2023)This is a delicious, modern VS. It will probably be my go-to VS as it is one of the few that don’t need a mixer to be drinkable. It is very approachable for folks not familiar with cognac. It has a wonderful marzipan meets fruit cocktail quality in the finish. I’ll definitely be buying again and often. -
George Dickel No. 12
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 14, 2018 (edited October 21, 2019)By far my go-to American Whisky. Ninety proof full of flavor. It punches far above its price with a corn-centric flavor carried through with complexity not typically seen in comparable bourbons and miles ahead of Jack Daniels. Dickel 12 is one of the few that can stand up nicely against my favorite single malts for entertaining my tastebuds. -
