Filey Bay Peated Finish (Batch 2)
Single Malt — Yorkshire, England
Reviewed July 18, 2025 (edited July 20, 2025)We tasted this along with their Finest whisky and the contrast is very clear. If you like your smokey/peaty whisky but dont want it to overpower every other tasting note this is a good whisky to try. For us, the nose didnt reveal the smokey/peary notes which made it a bit of a surprise. Thankfully no overly harsh finishes. This one might benefit from some water to open it a bit but we took it neat. I would add it to a tasting of peaty whiskys. -
The basic Jameson blended whiskey here has a fruity aroma, though I'm not sure where the Distiller reviewer smelled or tasted such a wide variety of items (beeswax?). This blend is quite good to introduce someone to the whiskey world, or for someone who has a sweet tooth since this is far less tart than other whiskeys I have had (such as Glenlivet). There is very little burn, especially if you cut it with a little bit of water or chill it with some ice. This is also priced well for cocktails and parties.
