Marzipan and chocolate nose is beautifully sweet to balance out the strong oakiness. This is a rich, viscous bourbon which tastes subtly of coffee and distinctively like black cherries. The finnish is a bit shorter than expected for a barrel-proof but great while it lasts! It's like the charred skin of a roasted marshmallow.60.0 USD per Bottle

Dates and smoke on the nose. Simple but very enjoyable. My first impression on the taste is raisins and vanilla. Digging a little deeper, I start to pick up a kettle corn note. The smoke really lingers on the finish. The best way to describe it is thick and sweet like the glaze on a really good rack of slow smoked ribs.60.0 USD per Bottle

Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 2, 2020 (edited January 28, 2021)The nose is quite enjoyable. Sweet tea and vanilla. The rye is in there, but you could be forgiven for thinking that this is a high-rye bourbon if it weren't for the label on the bottle. The taste does not deviate too far from the nose. I find that the rye comes through stronger with a cube. The finish is short, mostly oaky, but also some baking spice. Over-all a decent whiskey, but I would like to try it a cask strength.26.0 USD per Bottle -
The nose is robust but not overpowered by alcohol. I get notes of Nesquik chocolate powder, Reddi-wip, and honey. I think that the taste is best described as chocolate-milk-with-an-attitude. The medium-long finish features a touch of nuttiness followed by strong oakiness which gives-way to an air of fresh tobacco.49.0 USD per Bottle

Nothing special on the nose. Smells like your prototypical bourbon. If I really reach for it, I can pick out some honey. The nose can be a bit sharp from the alcohol, but I stop noticing after a few sips. The taste is reminiscent of funnel cake and the essence of maraschino cherries. The short-medium length finish begins as cherry cough syrup resolving to maraschino cherry and then a faintly bubble-gum flavor. I can't say I'm disappointed having paid $25 for a 1.75 L.25.0 USD per Bottle

Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 3, 2020 (edited January 29, 2021)The nose has a wet-campfire character like the 10 year without the medicinal notes. As I acclimate to the impact of the peat, vanilla completely dominates the nose. Milk chocolate on the palate with subdued pepperiness and lemon if you really look for it. The finish is where this whisky shines. After an initial burst of barrel bitterness, flourishes of orange-peel and cocoa soon subside to semi-sweet vanilla latte.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 10, 2020 (edited April 25, 2020)Cinnamon sugar nose dominates more subtle hints of vanilla and cherry. The ethanol is pronounced but not overwhelming. Immediate brown-sugar sweetness on the palate followed by ripe, red apples. A short-to-medium-length finish starts oaky with a touch of gingerbread soon fading to bitter, dark chocolate.25.0 USD per Bottle
