Wanted to try a cognac as I heard it pairs well with cigars but heard it’s not worth trying unless you spend $250 + cad however this Kirkland XO was an exception I heard about it definitely has some heat to it but it is smooth oily sweet and you can definitely taste the dried fruit oak and chocolate described on the bottle and for $75 cad for an XO it is an amazing value would keep this in stock all the time for sure75.0 CAD per Bottle

Like tasting bacon burning on a campfire while sipping a little medicine :) this is a punch in the face whiskey sweet and smooth for cask strength tastes a little young kind of like laphroig select or quarter cask if it were cask strength. Probably the most affordable cask strength in bc Canada besides Naddura so definitely worth trying if you like peat and a pinch in the face100.0 CAD per Bottle

Tasted this blind and compared it close to green spot and writers tears then upon reveal the price was half which is awesome ! Orchard fruit rich smooth and delicious 😋 easily my fave Irish whiskey rather any whiskey at the $30-40 mark I know some may knock that it isn’t all pot still and some corn but it is aged 4 years rather than 3 in this price range but it also makes it unique and flavourful so damn the process :)38.0 CAD per Bottle

Thoughts while comparing a dram of Laphroaig Select and 10Year. Look and story: Select is lighter in colour and thinner 40 vs 43. I like the swamp water mad scientist theory that went into the Select. 10 is an age statement and a great price for a 10 year. At 5$ difference perceived value I would go 10 Year. Nose: Select has a sweet bouquet of fruit, spice and salty peat 10Year has this deep ocean creme brûlée thing that I love the sherry cask must really change the profile. I think I love the spice and complexity of the Selects nose. Both are amazing though Taste: 10 Year is a full mouth feel peaty sweet delicious 🤤 and is actually smoother front end than select the finish is a big warm punch in the face. The Select has a lot going on like picking apart an Irish whiskey lots of subtlety. Finish is short and not as lingering. I like the sweet tones and sherry notes I think the 10 Year is so memorable I think both have a place I think they could have released Select as a competitor secret blend and it would have probably made it more distinct so weird to have two whiskeys at the same price that are both very good. Final thoughts now that the drams are finished The 10 is a monster if you like big flavours in your food and drink then This is for you if you like sweeter edge and sipping something a little sweeter but flavourful do the Select.65.0 CAD per Bottle
