Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 3
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed June 26, 2020 (edited October 24, 2020)My review is for Voyage 17 It's massively spicy yet smooth and had a unique flavor profile that I can't quite put my finger on. I want to say briny but that may just be my imagination. (my wife swears she can smell the sea!) The sweet spice carries the flavor profile and finish neat, but a bit of water opens up sweet vanilla as well. Overall, it does have a unique flavor profile that I'd like to add to my full time collection, but the price is a bit steep compared to overall quality.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 24, 2020 (edited July 15, 2020)Very hot, and harsh. Overall it's a pretty simple and basic tasting bourbon at a high proof. I couldn't really identify any uniqueness to it or interesting flavors. While it's less expensive than other cask strength bourbons, it's still not worth the price. Neither complex, nor full flavored, it's just more alcohol in this case. It's not horrible, but there are far better bourbons at the price point, and less.44.0 USD per Bottle -
Woodford was one of the first bourbons that got me into this, so I had to give their Double Oaked a try. I was skeptical though, given the $50 price tag. I taste the difference though. Great taste consisting of chocolate and cherries with toasted marshmallow at the end. More full than regular WR and more "woody", double woody to be exact! It's incredibly smooth. Almost TOO smooth for my tastes. I'd prefer a bit more bite. I enjoy this bourbon, but I really think it would benefit from a full barrel proof version.48.0 USD per Bottle

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 19, 2020 (edited June 25, 2020)In the same vein as Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare, Taylor clearly tops them both. The mouth feel is the first thing that jumps out at me, far more rich and oily. Coats the glass and your throat. Taylor has a, long lingering finish with tons of spice on the back end. I couldn't identify any specific favors here, but it's a good solid bourbon. Unfortunately it's ridiculously over-priced and difficult to find like much of what comes from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Well worth the MSRP, but not worth the secondary market prices.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 18, 2020 (edited June 26, 2020)Hot up front with a ton of spice. Very full, rich and oily with a great mouth feel. Longer finish with an explosion of hot cinnamon, then huge Vanilla, finishing with a significant taste of cherry. Holds up well to ice, but really doesn't need it. I can say it's worth every penny of it's $50 price tag. This has become one of my favorites in the price range.50.0 USD per Bottle -
This was recommended to me as an alternative to Weller 107. Like Weller it's a wheated bourbon at a slightly higher proof. Like Weller it's spicy with a sweet finish, caramel apple and vanilla. MMCS is also a bit hotter. The proof of the bottles can range and are printed on the label; mine was on the weaker side at 109.1 with a 114 max. I prefer MMCS neat. MMCS is, by a considerable margin, the single finest bourbon I'd ever tasted under $40 and one of my very favorites at any price.36.0 USD per Bottle

Phenomenonal! Starts off smooth but unimpressive the a huge explosion of flavor leading with spice and cinnamon, fishing with caramel apple. Strongly prefer this one neat. Ice doesn't enhance, it just waters it down. It's great bourbon, well worth the $50 msrp, but it's unfortunately very difficult to find at that price where I live, like most Buffalo Trace products, and not worth the secondary market prices. (Nothing is imo). Maker's Mark Cast Strength has a similar tast profile at a much more reasonable cost and far better availability in my area.65.0 USD per Bottle
