Talisker Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed June 15, 2021 (edited September 25, 2021)On the palate: peat, smoke, brine, candied/cooked down red fruit, black pepper and honey and finishes sweet. Light peat and sweetness with that ocean brine character thrown in. The sweetness, smoke, and big brine and black pepper notes can certainly lend to barbecue flavors or sweet sausage. Overall, a killer dram -
Sweet on the nose with aromas of banana, vanilla, cinnamon and oak. The palate mirrors the nose largely. Notes of caramel, a touch of mint, overripe banana, cinnamon, vanilla (like Nilla wafers) and finishes semi sweet with a touch of chocolate on the back end. A sweet and classic wheater, and a classic for a reason28.0 USD per Bottle

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 19, 2021 (edited June 16, 2021)Re-reviewing a standby. Not my #1 favorite, but always happy to have it On the nose: cherry, corn flakes, vanilla, caramel, and just a little spice On the palate: a darker sweetness for a bourbon. Notes of brown sugar and black tea (southern sweet tea), somewhat rounded oak, cherry/dark fruit, and ends with a light spice, tannin, and char.32.0 USD per Bottle -
Majorly oaky up front leading into a complex middle with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, rye, coconut, brown sugar and anise. Finishes semi-sweet with a nice cinnamon spice. Very complex and well-balanced, though maybe a little thin/mild in quality of flavors. I personally look for a bit more punch and boldness in my bourbon, but if you’re looking for something smooth, easy and complex this is a winner
