Old Pulteney 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 21, 2016 (edited October 21, 2016)Nose: sweet caramel, honey, vanilla, orange peel, almond, faint sea air. Taste: sweet caramel arrival, nutty, sour apple, dry bitter citrus. Finish: oak, salt, somewhat bitter but dry and refreshing, the bitterness fades with the addition of water bringing more oaky spice and vanilla through. This is a criminally underappreciated malt, and a shocking value. -
Glenlivet Nàdurra 16 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 14, 2016 (edited June 14, 2016)Nose: fesh fruit, apple, pear, oak, vanilla, custard, citrus, a touch of mint. Taste: sour green apple, spicy oak, juicy citrus. Finish: creamy at first then a lasting oak. Batch 1013Z, 55% ABV. A right shame they went the NAS route with this line. -
Nose: banana, brown sugar, caramel, oak, spice, slight coconut. Taste: banana sweetness, spicy oak, then a dark molasses and buttery toffee. Finish: distinctly overripe banana which turns somewhat bitter and dry. A great readily available and well priced introduction to the wonderful world of Jamaican rum.
