Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 25, 2023 (edited October 25, 2023)Overhyped for the price, but excelent none the less. Caramel, vanilla, and maple on the pallete mixed with a fresh aroma of baking spice and char. Complex with a subtle note of banana, and a very nice lasting finish. Definately a stand-out burbon, but simply a traditional burbon overall. Media hype and supply and demand are really what have caused the price on this to inflate, I’d happily pay $70-$90 for this bottle, not the $150 that it usually fetches.155.0 USD per Bottle -
This one took a little while to grow on me, but after some time I have found this to be a very pleasant whiskey. It isn’t as conplex as a lot of burbons, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This is a straight-shooter, sweet, vanilla, and oaky with a nice strong bite to it. Has a very light caramel note consistant with most burbons. Contrary to what some would say, I think this makes an excelent fall mixer, with flavors like red apple and pumpkin pairing very well!50.0 USD per BottleKowalski's Markets

Loonshine Minnesota Craft Organic Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — Northfield Minnesota , USA
Reviewed August 24, 2023Let me start by saying, loon liqours is 100% worth checking out, and their other products are excellent. This whiskey is definitely not the star of the show, and should be used for mixing. Ethanol forward, followed by fresh oak, grass, and hint of pine. Sweet on the nose, light on the pallate, and not too much of a finish besides a little burn. Very new tasting and not super complex, but not offensive in any way. Loon has a few small-batch craft ryes (they do a standard version and a barrel-proof, the latter of which is WAY better at only 55-72 proof) that are superb, and will get better with time. As of now, they are all fresh and bright on the pallate with a lot of the mash bill coming through, which makes sence given that most are between 42-48 months aged (as of summer 2023). The folks over at Loon definitely know what they’re doing. The big thing here is how new the distillery is, and it would be asinine to expect a fine craft whiskey without years of time to perfect the mash and try different levels of aging. Give them a decade, and loon will be putting out beautiful whiskey! -
Keeper's Heart Irish + Bourbon
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed August 23, 2023 (edited August 24, 2023)This is one of my favorite bottles of whiskey, however I am a big fan of irish whiskey so take that as you will. KH has a very distinct flavor and I feel like I could recognize it anywhere! The cask strength is great, as is the standard burbon mix. Strong sweetness and caramel, but mainly because of the burbon component, of which I would say is a mediocre burbon note, nothing to write home about here. However, this mix is excelent, and it really shines being that it is a triple pot still. Took the tour and did a couple tastings at the distillery, the folks were great and super informative/knowledgeable. Worth the buy, even simply to suport a semi-small distillery with a unique and creative vision. Give em’ 5 more years and they will be cranking out some amazing aged whiskey! Will update as I try in different settings!50.0 USD per BottleO'Shaughnessy Distilling Co. -
A plesantly suprising sweetness right off the bat. Cherries definitely came through strong right out of the gate. Vanilla and oak mix with banana, combined with a very nice mouth feel mix to form an incredible tasting experience. Definitely beginer-friendly, and I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any whisky lover that woukd dislike this one! Will update as I drink it in different settings!60.0 USD per BottleMcDonald's Liquor and Wine
