Tastes

Initial nose is of powdered sugar, brine, and almost a sugarcane syrup rum. I almost missed the antiseptic which only continued to ramp up. Tastes of smoky brine with a lemon brightness, which inevitably gets overcome by an unrelenting antiseptic. You very much taste the Laphroaig!

Overall tastes like Spice Tree just dialed back 15% and with less apple. It's alright.

Nose of bright pears, honey, and a nutty buttery note. Reminds me of pecan sandies cookies. Tastes bright, clean, honey and sweet plums and syrupy pears. Finishes with a mouthful of raisins. Disappointingly thin mouthfeel, though the flavor does linger for a non-inconsequential length of time. That's what you get with 40% ABV, I guess.

Smells of a middle of the road bourbon with some stewed apple, cherry, vanilla, and sugar. Tastes of some apples that changes to cherry and straight up sugar. Body disappears pretty quickly.

Nose is of banana taffy, vanilla, bright powdered sugar, and barrel spice. Tastes of peanut brittle dust and boiled peanuts with apricots coming in at the very end. Didn't like it at first but I let it sit for a few minutes and the sweetness really opens up.

Nose is of an apple, muted with some paint thinner in a good way. Also smells of cherries, reminiscent of maraschino liqueur. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with a bit of initial astringency that smooths out quickly. Starts off herbal, then goes to green apple and soft caramel with some pine forest notes.

Nose is surprisingly thick, mostly of cherries and applesauce. Smells frankly syrupy. Mouthfeel is similarly thick with Luxardo cherries and tastes of holiday pie. Very nice.

Nose first starts off with vanilla'd smashed and oxidized sweet apples (like a Fuji) but the vanilla grows and grows to almost smell like a well casked bourbon. Tastes of a stewed mulled apple cider with lots of vanilla, allspice, and cinnamon. Finishes with a mouthful of raisins and prunes. Well done, Compass Box.

Nose is apple, buttery biscuits, fresh paint, and freshly laid lumber in the best of ways. Opens up to more caramel later on. Tastes of, I swear to God, pear Jelly Belly with some oaky vanilla. Finishes just with sugar syrup. Very Irish.
