    Finally broke down and tried a dram. For an islay lover there was no peat, plenty of sherry, but not complex enough for me to be a repeat costomer.

    Feels like a roundhouse in the mouth if you are not expecting the higher abv. Definitely not a boring but will turn some away if they do not like the sharp spice. Prefer the Stagg Jr.

    The best way to describe this when comparing to the 16 is "refined". Sweet AND smoke. I get plenty of fruit and a smidge of iodine with a mint finish. Just like your favorite potato chips, near impossible to have just one. Well worth the money.

    mooched a dram from my buddy. Compared the 8, 16, and distillers edition. 16 is a much more rounded 8. It brings a depth of mint on the end which tied with the smoke is a steller combo. The peatiest of the Lagavulin offerings listed. 4.75

    Price of entry is not worth the ride. Very singular and predictible taste. maybe if not cut to 40 abv there would be more to talk about.

    Fun to have in the personal bar because it's a conversation starter. I personally only buy if I find it under $30 which is suprisingly common in central IL
