Nose- Juicy pears, honey, vanilla, wild flowers Palate- Creamy vanilla, biscuits, honeysuckle, tropical fruits, and small amount of wood spice Finish- Medium, creamy finish with notes of vanilla and juicy pears My absolute favorite to order at an irish pub. Cheap, delicious and quintessential Irish whiskey. Lovely, creamy mouthfeel throughout the entire experience. Vanilla passes from the nose, to palate to finish. Biscuits and tropical fruits round this out. Not the longest finish ever, but the value is unbeatable for how good this whiskey is. One of the most underrated out there

Nose- caramel, maple syrup, cardamom, dark chocolate, rye spice, polished leather, cinnamon buns Palate- Maple syrup, caramel, dill, wood spice, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, herbal-vegetal note right before the finish Finish- Long, drying and chewy finish with notes of rye spice, caramel, and cinnamon This is the definition complex. So. Many. Notes. Both on nose and palate I get countless smells and flavors that would be too long to list. THH is impressive as ever for me due to the color, complexity, and overall deliciousness from less than 7 years of aging. 2019 in particular is my favorite that ive tried of the batch

Deanston 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 29, 2020 (edited February 15, 2020)Nose- orange blossom, honey, hay, floral tea, sandalwood Palate- Honey sweetness initially, sandalwood, hay, citrus Finish- medium, thin finish with notes of hay and a slight wood spice Big fan of this one. Deanston impresses again. Light, earthy and floral, with a nice side of sweetness. Nothing too bold or unique, but a really nice balance of flavors with a great nose. The finish could always be longer, as with any deanstons, but the shorter finish seems to work pretty well with this. -
Red Spot 15 Year Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 26, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)Nose- Sweet orchard fruits, cherries, dry oak, green grapes, touch of smoke Palate- apricots, honey, black pepper, mango, vanilla, black cherry, red apples Finish- Long, oily finish with notes of fresh fruit, vanilla, and spice Mmm mmm mmm. Red spot is fantastic. It’s like a basket of fruits in liquid form. On top of the fruits you also get a bit of smoke, pepper spice and sweetness. All these flavors mingle together very well. This is a hard bottle to find, but if I do, I’ll buy it on the spot. -
Nose- caramel, vanilla, red apples, wood spice, barrel char Palate- creamy vanilla, burnt wood, caramel apples, small amount of smoke, nutty chocolate Finish- Medium, spicy finish with notes of barrel char, vanilla and caramel One of my favorites to order at any bar. Price is fantastic and it’s a great value for what you pay for. My favorite thing about black barrel is the emphasis on the vanilla, caramel and barrel char notes, and while it’s not incredibly complex, the flavors mingle together perfectly. Nice balance and bold flavors.

Eagle Rare 17 Year Bourbon (Fall 2017)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 26, 2020 (edited October 7, 2020)Nose- Sweet candy corn, powdered sugar, orange, cloves, brown sugar Palate- Rich vanilla, caramel, cherries, cinnamon, barrel char Finish- Medium, thin finish with notes of sweet cherries, baking spice and vanilla For a $900-$1000 bourbon, I can’t help but be disappointed with this. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but there are some bourbons sitting on the shelf right now for 50 dollars that are just as good, if not better than this. There’s alot of sweetness to it and less oak than I would’ve expected. My biggest complaint is that it’s not very unique at all, just a lot of traditional bourbon notes. Completely fails in comparison to the high proof BTAC lineup. -
Nose- cinnamon, barrel char, honey, caramel, cherries Palate- cinnamon, orange, cloves, honey, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, nutty, chocolate Finish- long, oily finish with notes of cinnamon spice and a chocolate bomb at the end Fantastic. I really am blown away by this only being 4 years old. It’s bold and in your face, with heavy rye and baking spice. Chocolate rounds it out in addition to some nice fruit and sweet notes. This is good stuff and should be a staple in any whiskey collection... that is, if you can’t get your hands on a Willett Single Barrel.

Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels (2018 Edition)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 26, 2020Nose- plum, banana, honey, burnt wood, with water dates come out, cherry cola Palate- plum, cola, floral, caramel, herbal, chocolate, toasted oak, figs, cherry cola with water Finish- long, drying finish with notes of dry oak and coca cola Great, unique taste, opens up with a bit of water. Love the cola notes on the palate and finish. Delicious banana on the nose is fantastic and unique. Only downfall for me is the super drying effect on the mouth with the finish. Normally I like a dry finish... but this one dries out all the flavors from the finish and leaves an off feeling in the mouth. Aside from that, it’s solid. -
Nose- bubble gum, maple syrup, caramel, fire wood, raspberries Palate- dark fruits, raspberries, leather, cinnamon, vanilla Finish- Medium, spicy and mouth coating finish with notes of berries and cinnamon Bubble gum. Never gotten that note from the nose of a bourbon, but it’s unmistakable here. I love the berry notes I get throughout the nose, palate and finish as well, with a hint of fire wood on top of it. Finish could be longer and a bit more complex, but all in all I’m a big fan of this one.

Four Roses 130th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 26, 2020Nose- almond croissant, baked apples, honey, caramel, oak, peach, vanilla, cherries Palate- citrus, ranier cherries, oak, spices, baked apples, ginger, and vanilla Finish- buttery and creamy mouthfeel , with a long and complex finish with notes of toasted oak, ginger spice and fruits This is a fantastic bourbon. High proof and bold but never too hot. Oak is present throughout, just like any Four Roses LE. Nice flavors of fruit and savory spice as well. would certainly not feel good about paying $300+ for this, but for MSRP, it’s a homerun. Also comes in an awesome bottle.
