The nose on this pour comes across as Maraschino cherries, dusty corn, cinnamon, and brown sugar. It doesn't wow you but hints at what is to come. The same notes explode across your tongue on first sip as the 101 proof carries them beautifully lead by the cherry and dusty corn. I know not all like the dusty note but I love it. The finish is fairly long if not simple. A beautiful cinnamon cherry spice gives you a lengthy fairwell. I know many people say it, but this is simply one of the best value bourbons out there. Even in Manitoba, Canada, the $42 price tag is very approachable. Very happy to have this as my daily pour. I can't see it ever leaving my shelf.

I was offered this at a friends place so i'll give it a whirl! The nose has lots of sherry notes which makes sense considering it's finished twice in different sherry casks. It actually reminds me of some red wine finished whiskysI've had. There is a very very light brown sugar note hiding in there as well. A very light palate arrives. Mostly dusty, malt notes. Slightly Sweet. Prune or raisin. That's about it unfortunately. Finish is quite short as well. Fairly disappointed.

Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed March 3, 2024 (edited March 4, 2024)I first bought this bottle when I began exploring the Irish whisky scene. I was blown away with how different it was than anything I had tried before. The nose has so much going on. None of the typical shortbread and butter notes. This comes at you with red berries, cranberry ginger ale, cordial, lemon lime soda, and the syrup from a jar of Maraschino cherries. Very sweet. The palate follows suite perfectly ending in a nice malt funk. The finish is quite long with sweet berries dipped in milk chocolate. The cornucopia of wine finishes on this bottle show up in droves creating a beautiful, unique, bouquet of flavors. -
I Tend to be a fan of old forester products so I was very excited when I found a whisky row sample kit over Christmas That had 1910, 1920, and 1897 in it. This evening I'm digging into the 1910 as my kids roblox conversations bounce around me so we'll see how this goes. Before my nose enters the glass, aromas of banana loaf with walnuts greet me. Vanilla, oak, and maple syrup follow shortly after. Something about bourbon is so comforting. Palate is a bit spicy on the initial sip but it's my first of the day so I'll chalk it up to that. Deep, rich, vanilla almost hinting at marshmallow hit me as well as the oak. That second barreling is shining through. Plenty of baking spices and a hint of cherry I usually get on old forester products are present as well. Finish is medium in length carrying on with the baking spices and deep vanilla notes. A very good pour.

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 2, 2024 (edited March 3, 2024)I believe this is the fourth time I've dug into this dram and it's better than I remember. For context, it is following a subpar canadian whisky. With that in mind, the nose is presenting very well with notes of raisins, toffee, lemon, and grass. A brown sugar note from the bourbon casks as well. Making my mouth water so let's get into this. Palate is gentle and viscous. The toffee and raisins follow along with a grapefruit note. Kind of plateaus from there. Finish is medium in length with light notes of grass and honey. Overall decent experience. It's so nice to you so very much recommended for entry into the category. -
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2024 (edited March 3, 2024)Woodford Double Oaked. What beautiful words. Nose is rich with vanilla, oak, butterscotch, cinnamon rolls, black tea, butter, and milk chocolate. Taking a sip coats your tongue is vanilla, butterscotch, toasted marshmallows, and banana loaf. The finish lingers quite a while with vanilla oak notes and a hint of creamy black tea. Superb pour. -
