Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 19, 2016 (edited September 24, 2016)10 year at 90 proof. Very smooth with a great flavor profile. At just over $30, it's a great value. The only bad thing I can say is that it can be very difficult to find in Georgia (as with about all Buffalo Trace products other than "Buffalo Trace"). -
I've had a bottle of this sitting in the basement for 16 years unopened. I finally decided to crack it open. I'm more of a bourbon drinker. However, I decided to give this a try. It's definitely got a different taste than bourbon. It's still very drinkable, though. I'm not sure how to describe the smell and taste. Maybe licorice and dried fruit? It has a bit of spice to it. The flavor lingers long after the sip. Good if you like it, not so good if you don't. It's not something I'd drink a lot of, but it's pretty nice for an after dinner cocktail over ice.

A very nice sipping bourbon at a very nice price. Very easy to drink with just enough rye spice. It doesn't have a big bold or complex flavor, but it also doesn't have any 'off' notes, either. Works well as both a mixer and straight or on the rocks. There are definitely worse bourbons out there for a lot more money.

Truly awful. My wife gave me a gift pack at Christmas with a 750ml bottle of their regular bourbon along with several mini bottles of various other flavored whiskies. Everything else was at least at least drinkable, if not particularly memorable. I don't "get" the trend of flavoring bourbons. Leave that crap to the cheap vodkas. This one tasted like chocolate syrup and cough syrup. Luckily, I had a bottle of Weller on hand so I could attempt to wash the taste out. It hasn't worked so far.

I saw a mini bottle of this at the local liquor store and figured I'd give it a "shot". It's not bad, but it also doesn't stand out. It doesn't have any off notes, but it also doesn't have anything that made me take notice. It's got a bit of spice to it, but that's about it. I can't say I'll ever buy a full size bottle. There's just too much else in that price range that is rather spend my money on.
