Springbank 15 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed February 16, 2020 (edited April 13, 2022)Nose - honey, sweet light peat smoke, grass, hay, pear, sweet apple, very little ethanol burn. Taste - thick, viscous honey, vanilla, hay, pear, caramel, grape syrup, brine, cereal, sweet cream, light oak, sweet peat smoke, milk chocolate, with very little burn (manifests as a grape-like sourness), finishing long, creamy, and delightfully sweet. It’s delicious. -
Nose - honey, grape, brine, champagne gummy bears, green apple, honeysuckle, white wine, slight peat must (but not smoke), no ethanol burn. Taste - honey, caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, briny sea salt, very mild smoke (more of a remembrance of peat), sweet and salty nut bars, butter, creme brûlée, no ethanol burn, finishing delicate and sweet.

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-02 "Shiny Barrel Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 15, 2020 (edited February 9, 2024)Nose - leather, chocolate, spice, vanilla, caramel. Taste - chocolate, baking spice, caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, finishing long with lingering sweet chocolate and toffee. Delicious and has much less bite than would be suggested by the proof. The flavors are punchy and much richer than most bourbons I’ve tasted. -
Glenlivet 14 Year Cognac Cask Selection
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 14, 2020 (edited December 2, 2020)Nose - pear, vanilla, caramel, a nuttiness that wasn’t present in the 12 year, light-moderate ethanol burn. Taste - honey, caramel, mellow grape, nut (maybe walnut), corn, plum, hint of milk chocolate, light oak, finishing with sweet chocolate and caramel flavors. This is much more enjoyable than the 12 year. One of the better Speysides I’ve tasted. -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 14, 2020 (edited December 2, 2020)Nose - honey, grape, green apple, pear, white wine, vanilla, slightly floral, corn, light oak. Taste - honey, vanilla, apple/pear, finishing quick and a bit sour. For having such a delicate nose (and being only 80 proof), this has a large bite that is a bit off-putting. Overall, I’m not a fan. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 13, 2020 (edited December 2, 2020)Nose - classic bourbon nose, apple, cherry, leather, vanilla, almond, mild cinnamon, light ethanol burn. Taste - peanut, caramel, vanilla, cherry, burnt brown sugar, moderately tannic, medium ethanol burn, finishing mildly sweet and spicy with a hint of leather. Overall, an amazing value for the price. Solid bourbon notes all the way through, but falls slightly short of higher-end offerings.
