When I first purchased and tried it neat I wasn't impressed and pushed it to the back shelf. Four months later I tried it again over ice and more of the flavors were pronounced. It is young and light, but sweet. Not a lot pf depth of character for a bourbon. Decent sipper over ice, but would not use to make my Manhattans. Batch 0406

Crown Royal Noble Collection 16 Year Rye
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed February 16, 2021 (edited July 3, 2021)Expected more from a 16 yr old rye. It was light all the around on the nose, palate, and finish. Nice dark amber color showing it’s age in the charred oak barrel. More sweet vanilla on the nose than palate. The spice started strong but the intensity faded pretty quickly followed by char on the back palate. Not a lot of complexity as far as other flavor notes showing up to play. There’s a weird aftertaste left on the tongue. Not sure what it is. More flavors may show up with a few drops of water or over ice. -
Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 19, 2020Light on the nose and palate for a bourbon, which may be why bourbons not on the label. Seems like a young whiskey with little depth of flavor on nose and palate. I think there are better whiskeys at the price point. -

Cedar Ridge Iowa Bourbon - 80 Proof (DISCONTINUED)
Bourbon — Iowa, USA
Reviewed November 13, 2020 (edited April 27, 2021)Every thing about the 43% straight bourbon aged 3 years screams a young bourbon that needed more time to mellow out! High alcohol on the nose and palate. No depth of flavor on the palate but lots of spice and burn to finish. This one will get pushed to the back of the shelf. -
The high rye spice even comes through the nose. It cuts through the sweetness of the vanilla and other fruity flavors. On the palate the spice hits immediately on the front but dissipates quickly. I always enjoy the char of burnt oak on the back end that lasts longer than the spice. For the value and quality definitely a shelf stocker.
