Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 19, 2020Light on the nose and palate for a bourbon, which may be why bourbons not on the label. Seems like a young whiskey with little depth of flavor on nose and palate. I think there are better whiskeys at the price point. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Cedar Ridge Iowa Bourbon (80 Proof) DISCONTINUED
Bourbon — Iowa, USA
Reviewed November 13, 2020 (edited April 27, 2021)Every thing about the 43% straight bourbon aged 3 years screams a young bourbon that needed more time to mellow out! High alcohol on the nose and palate. No depth of flavor on the palate but lots of spice and burn to finish. This one will get pushed to the back of the shelf. -
The high rye spice even comes through the nose. It cuts through the sweetness of the vanilla and other fruity flavors. On the palate the spice hits immediately on the front but dissipates quickly. I always enjoy the char of burnt oak on the back end that lasts longer than the spice. For the value and quality definitely a shelf stocker.

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 30, 2020 (edited November 11, 2020)I generally like a bold bourbon with good char flavor, but this may be my new go to when I want a lighter bourbon. Lighter notes of vanilla on the nose and a well balanced smooth drink on the palate.West Des Moines -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020At 86 proof AE is exactly what it is advertised as...smooth & sweet with a hint of spice at the end. An easy bourbon to get introduced to and drink neat. My first nose was met with heavy vanilla. Light on the palate. Just a good well balanced bourbon.46.0 USD per BottleWest D Liquors -
Maker's Mark 46 French Oaked

Reviewed September 23, 2020 (edited August 25, 2023)Big blast of vanilla on the nose that leads to a heavy sweet coating the front palate followed by a big blast of spice on the finish. -
Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 22, 2020 (edited October 2, 2020)I personally enjoy a bourbon on the sweeter side and this one doesn’t disappoint for me. Hints of banana on the palate, smooth going down with little to no spice bite when sipping over a cube of ice. -
WhistlePig 6 Year PiggyBack Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed August 28, 2020 (edited September 19, 2020)Now I love me some hot tamale candies and first sip of this took me right there with a hit of cinnamon spice and a little sweetness. Although for a 100% rye it’s pretty tame and doesn’t have a last long on the palate.
