Tastes

Smells of chemicals and apple to me. Flavors are not very complex - not particularly sweet or spicy. Nothing really stands out much at all.

Too much acetone and other chemical notes - overpowered the subtle caramel and vanilla. Smooth and slightly sweet, but the flavors don't do it for me

I'm not a fan of many scotches yet - I haven't acquired the taste for much peatiness yet. This is not a scotch, but is great for anyone trying to break into them. All-spice on the nose, then the flavor starts out sweet, and eases into the peat, which never over-powers. I will definitely be buying more of this

Mellow - yes. Corn - yes.... Buttered popcorn - yes.... Corn on the Cobb - yes.... Creamed corn - yes.... (Plus a little sweetness that was a bit of a surprise)

Someone wrote "banana bread" in a review, and that was all I could taste when I tried this. Also leather and floral notes on the nose

Martzipan early on the nose, leather and grain as it opens up. Nothing to interesting on the palette here: more grain and rye flavors

Not bad, not great; decent value for a sour mash in the low $20s. Most of the flavors/scents were masked by strong alcohol until I added some water. After that, I picked up quite a bit of wood and citrus on the nose. Hints of vanilla and spice on my tongue, but nothing too complex. Michter's sour mash is definitely more interesting, but it's also almost double the cost, so that's expected.

Maple syrup, butterscotch, and maybe a hint of cherry blossom on the nose. Very smooth creamy flavor, lingers in my cheeks without a lot of burn.

Not my style, I suppose. Smells of leather, metal, and polished wood (or some sort of household cleaner) a reminds me of a dentists office. Smooth, spicy flavor, with a gentle finish. Not a lot of subtlety on my palette - the oakiness overpowers everything else.

American Whiskey Advent Calendar, Dec. 1: Caramel with cream on the nose - my mother-in-law's Thanksgiving sweet potatoes (sugar, nuts, toasted marshmallow). :-) Smokey and sweet with a little dark fruit on the finish.
