Westland Peated American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed December 13, 2016I'm not a fan of many scotches yet - I haven't acquired the taste for much peatiness yet. This is not a scotch, but is great for anyone trying to break into them. All-spice on the nose, then the flavor starts out sweet, and eases into the peat, which never over-powers. I will definitely be buying more of this -
Not bad, not great; decent value for a sour mash in the low $20s. Most of the flavors/scents were masked by strong alcohol until I added some water. After that, I picked up quite a bit of wood and citrus on the nose. Hints of vanilla and spice on my tongue, but nothing too complex. Michter's sour mash is definitely more interesting, but it's also almost double the cost, so that's expected.
