Tastes

Very smooth and well rounded with some sweetness, light smoke and a hint of floral. Good but nothing to write home about. Similar profile but much lighter and smoother than Macallan Amber. Similar again to Talisker 10 but better from what I remember, especially taking into account the difference in price. $80 in Ontario.

Fairly smooth, light, and well rounded. Very lightly floral, a small hint of smoke. Similar but a little smoother than Irish whiskey. Not worth $95 (in Ontario).

Honey, floral spice and soft rich salty peat, finishing moderately salty, dry and very slightly bitter. A good starter in terms of peated scotch but not worth the price tag. $100 in Ontario.

Deep rich smoke with a hint of smoked meat. Smooth, well rounded with a faint hint of sweetness. Smoked meat and campfire smoke lingers. Beautiful bold character. Similar intensity to Laphroaig 10yr. $100 in Ontario.

Floral oak, honey sweetness, deep gentle smoke, and a suggestion of dark fruit. A little floral/unrefined for my ideal, it’s missing the richness of its older siblings but it’s great for the price. $65 in Ontario.

More robust, less sweet than plain Maker's Mark. More caramelization/char, slightly more floral. Lighter, but similar qualities to Blanton's. Also similar but more robust than W.L. Weller Special Reserve. $62 in Ontario.

Caramel and yeasty corn sweetness, charred dry oak and floral spice. It’s probably worth 3 stars but comes across a little unrefined. $48 in Ontario.

Rich toasted oak and toffee with a lightly floral burn. A step above Elijah Craig 12 Yr/Small Batch, as well as Four Roses Single Barrel. Rob's Distiller notes say it well. Unfortunately, while it's among the better tasting bourbons I've had the mild but ever present floral heat holds it back. $70 in Ontario.

Sweet toffee and brown sugar, smooth with soft lingering spice. Alcoholic toffee. Quite good but not alot of outstanding character. A little too sweet. $49 in Ontario.

Crown's light oakiness but it's gained a little depth and fruit sweetness. It's raw with a kick of charcoal and the higher ABV. Better suited to mixing. It makes a good whiskey sour. $33 in Ontario.
