Ardmore Traditional Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 18, 2014 (edited July 5, 2015)My go-to. You won't find a better whisky for $30. A whiff of peat, balanced beautifully with highland honey. I try to keep a bottle on hand at all times. -
Kilchoman 100% Islay (2nd Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 1, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)Pear & cinnamon edge out the peat in the nose. Peat grows stronger on the palate with creamy banana & vanilla notes. Iced lemon cookies. Water a must. -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2012 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2014 (edited March 24, 2017)Strong peat recalls yeasty biscuits, then apple dumplings. Very sweet and soft on the tongue, but substantial. Angel food cake, sugary icing. Long spicy finish. -
Caol Ila 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2014 (edited September 7, 2015)The nose presents a honeydew sweetness & peat with a minty edge. Creamy on the palate as the taste of rock candy gives way to baking bread and toasted nuts. Finally some smoke carried away by the sea breeze. My favorite single malt. -
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 18, 2014 (edited September 7, 2015)Dark fruitiness of port up front, with syrupy French toast underneath. Flavors of brown sugar, cinnamon, blood oranges. Thick & creamy, silky, smoky finish with a touch of mint.
