Yellow Spot 12 Year Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 18, 2021 (edited August 17, 2021)This is so different from green spot. I find no relationship between the two at all. This is a sweet, fruity, almost creamy whiskey. I like it alot. You can really taste the bourbon casks. It goes down really easy. It's a really nice sip. -
Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed August 30, 2020 (edited August 23, 2021)I'm not sure what it is but I was just expecting alot more. It just wasn't that interesting. I liked redbreast 12 and powers 12 more. There were some vegetal quality to it that was off putting. I'll have to try it again along side the others and give it another shot. -
Cardhu Gold Reserve (Game of Thrones-House Targaryen)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 14, 2020Not a fan. Definitely more smoke than what I'm use to from Speyside. Nose is nice but short finish. Don't know what we're gonna do with this bottle. I don't like it enough to drink neat. Maybe mixed drinks. Don't know what else we're gonna do with this bottle. -
Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 31, 2020 (edited August 18, 2020)OBSQ recipe 9 years, 11 months 59.5% ABV JE warehouse, 15-3D barrel This is my first four roses single barrel private selection and I gotta say that I'm blown away. I found it at my local Costco and it's so much better than I thought it would be especially at that price point. I enjoy barrel strength, most notably Booker's, and usually sip them very slowly to get the full effect. This one goes down so smooth and is easy to drink. I'm not great with descriptors but it's full, rich and fruity. Peach up front followed by cherry on the finish. Never really put those two together like that. I went and looked up the OBSQ recipe because I was so intrigued. I didn't get much of the floral notes or the rye spiciness. It was just really well balanced. Now I've gotta find more of these and try some of the other recipes. -
Kura The Whisky Pure Malt Japanese Rum Cask Finish
Blended Malt — Okinawa , Japan
Reviewed July 21, 2019 (edited May 6, 2022)ugh, this was just not good. not balanced at all. hot up front even though it's only 40% abv. it has a weird finish, like an burnt aftertaste. I tried it in a highball thinking that it would be better but that aftertaste is still there. not sure what to do with this bottle. -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 13, 2019 (edited December 21, 2019)so my expectations were really high when I found this bottle... they were completely met and probably even surpassed. I first got into HP because I could never handle the peat of islay scotch. HP18 is so good. it's more than just smooth and balanced, it's sublime. it sweet up front and then a thin layer of smoke comes in and fills your mouth. for me this is the perfect amount of smoke. the finish is fantastic and just hangs on to your tongue. this is one of the best whiskeys that I've ever had. can't wait to share it with friends. -
Highland Park 15 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 13, 2019 (edited December 20, 2019)I just found a bottle of HP18 so I decided to have it side by side with HP15. That was probably a mistake. I found the 15 to be unbalance. it just wasn't the same as I remembered it.
