Glen Fohdry Dublaich American Oak Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 5, 2019I wanted it gone after a few drams. The tropical fruit was nice, especially banana, but it was way too sweet. It didn’t help that it was thin and disappeared from the palate as soon as I sipped. -
Second taste edit: the nose is floral and fruity. The palate has a sharp fermented red fruit character. It’s nice, and the finish is long, but I prefer the oak and barley character of the Double Cask, which I’m having side by side. Very enjoyable. In the same league as Balvenie 12. Good classic scotch with good fruit sweetness and rounded edges.

Dewar's 12 Year The Ancestor (Discontinued)
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed July 5, 2019 (edited May 31, 2021)Edit: It’s not bad. It tastes like scotch, but it’s also kinda resin-y. Mostly malty must and caramel. I think I could sip it neat. Rocks might dilute any flavor right out of it. Had a hard time drinking this one neat, but it did well on the rocks in the summer.
