Really good rye. Wasn't expecting this from the JD distillery. Up there with my favorite rye, Lot 40. Works as a sipper and with ginger ale if you're up to mxing it.

picked this up as I went through Amsterdam duty free on my way to Munich. I only had a few weeks to get through it (travelling through other countries with only carry on luggage) so figured why not get something easy to drink, something I wouldn't normally buy, and, if I didn't get through it, I wouldn't care if I left it behind. Fresh fruit on the nose, dried fruit on the palette with a hint of cocoa and slight nuttiness. Finish is short with some burn. To be honest, it drinks more like a blend. A couple drops of water only intensifies the dried fruit, nothing more. I've had worse, if that's something to be happy about.

Takes the usual 86 proof version and bumps it up a notch as far as proof and flavor. While the 86 proof is a great intro sipper, this one requires a little more of a mature palette because of the extra heat. Well worth it though as it boasts more oak, more rich honey and more spice. Mixing this would be a shame, but for the price ($24 in FL) you wouldn't miss it too much.

I love the flavor of this bourbon (oak, vanilla and dried fruits), but it fades pretty quickly. Good as an introductory sipping bourbon but outside of that if you wanted to mix it, you shouldn't feel too badly about it.

Have to agree with Blair's notes on this one. Very fragrant, full of spice, hay, brown sugar and rye. Such a good rye whisky. Would recommend to anybody who is a Canadian Rye fan. I can't believe I found it for $55 on clearance at a local LCBO.
