Highland Park 15 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 19, 2014 (edited April 5, 2016)This HP 15 Scotch suffers the fate of so many 15 year olds. It is past the sweet subtleness of flavored of its 12 yr brother and no where near he depth of flavor of its 18 year old sibling. It is truly a middle child of this otherwise wonderful range. This is not to say it is not worthy of a tasting or even a purchase, just keep in mind the trade offs and don't set you expectations to high. -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 19, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)This was one of the first 18yr old I'd ever had and I was blown away by the depth of flavors, layer upon layer. Sweet fruits open the flavor parade followed by pear and honey and a slightly salty finish. A year round, all around, great scotch and for an 18 a good price value. -
The king of the smokey peaty end of the spectrum. I find that once I have a dram of this one it over takes my palate with an extremely long finish. This is not one for beginner or even seasoned speyside lover. It is like no other Scotch and uncomparible. But there is noing better by a roaring fire on a cold night, a good book is optional.
