Bomberger's Declaration (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2022 (edited December 12, 2022)Light fine cherry on the nose. Simply a pleasant Oakley roundness with a clean alcohol that comes with it’s 108 proof at a modest age. Flavor matches the nose. Very nice continued cherry oakeyness with a long finish. Just an enjoyable pour with a long finish. An overall pleasant oily mouth feel. Nice overall bourbon. -
Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 24, 2022 (edited November 15, 2022)I’m having a “21st Amendment” store pick, purchased 3-2022 in Indianapolis IN. 128.4 proof. It’s an oily, dark, rich pour. The nose is a hot orange waffle cone. Very enjoyable. The flavor is good but less impressive. I had hoped for a more bold oak presence. Maybe it’s slightly young? Enjoyable and hot. To be candid, I need to let it sit and revisit later. Sorry it’s not a complete review. Next day……. Revisiting the flavor, this OF has a very pleasant bold presence. Very enjoy. I do thing it could benefit from more time or temp volatility. Label shows it’s from the first floor. If you know the age on these Single Barrels, please comment. -

Kentucky Par 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 7, 2021 (edited December 4, 2022)Wonderful nose. The full mature oaky punch demonstrates the 12 years were well used. Good tasting, chewy and oily, pleasant. The nose is a birdie drive. Taste is a three putt to par. (Name pun….. sorry). To be fair, I’ve had three ounces to describe the taste and am struggling. Not the charged taste I hoped for, but pleasant. Maybe it’s me. (I bet the cask strength would be outstanding.) At the price point, $125, I’d recommend you try it. I’ll buy again. -
Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed August 13, 2021 (edited February 20, 2022)The only Smoke Wagon I had previously was an uncut, unfiltered, barrel strength version at a friend’s event. It was outstanding, however I’m partial to whiskey in its raw form. This small batch at 100 proof was remarkably pleasant. It’s a smooth boilerplate high rye. Enjoyable nose, appropriately hot, and lingering finish. Although the bottle is overdone, I have to admit, it’s pretty cool. -

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A121
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 11, 2021 (edited June 6, 2021)This 12 year begins with a Carmel aroma worthy of its age. At 123.6 proof it’s a perfect pour. Buy it! -
To be fair, I just finished two ounces of top quality bourbon before tasting Southwell 12.... trying to find something positive to say. In fine print on the label it reads “Limited Production”. Now that was a good idea! It tastes somewhat watered down at 86 proof. I’m just done. Maybe a mixer. 12 years wasted.
