Nose: ethanol, dense corn fruit, sherry and dark fruit, oak chips, smoked brisket, molasses, saddle leather, eucalyptus, menthol, burnt brown sugar. Palate: immediate bite and barrel spice. Brown sugar, smoked jerkey, mint, clove. Long creamy & rich oakey smoke finish. One of the most intriguing whiskies I have ever had. Almost like one part Laphroaig, one part bourbon, and one part sherry. An amazing journey for you smeller and your taste buds!

Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed March 15, 2019 (edited August 25, 2019)Nose: Delicate but loaded with ripe fruit: apple & pear (calvados), allspice & nutmeg, plum, a little sherried dark fruit, juicy fruit gum with a touch of fingernail polish. Palate: Raspberries, apple, pear, & spice ala calvados, honeyed vanilla, youthfull grain character and barrel spice. Sour apples and baking spice again on the finish. This one hits and fades quick but the finish lingers like a sour apple lifesaver. -
Nose: honey, caramel cream, tropical fruits (pineapple, papaya, toasted coconut), peaches, malt, and a faint undercurrent of peat. Palate: cream and honey kissed apples, barrel spice, melon, malt, oak, a hint of peat funk, cracked peppercorns, and a drying leather finish. A simple and easy dram to drink. Not very complex just well executed in it’s simplicity.

This is a master’s thesis in barrel finishing. The sherry is perfectly integrated with the bourbon and neither is more dominant than the other. Beautifully rounded and a gorgeous dram. Nose: caramel, vanilla, mallow root, brown sugar, black tea, fig, raisins. Palate: brown sugar, vanilla cream, blueberries, dark fruit, black tea, clove, barrel spice, leather, almonds.

Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2019 (edited March 17, 2019)Nose: pumpernickel and rye bread, candle wax, vanilla, blackberry jam, raspberries, cherry cola. Palate: vanilla, caramel, rye bread, barrel spice, leather. Finish: sour oak, raspberry cream. This whiskey is all about oak and rye. Like a multi-layered cake of gorgeous oak notes and rye. Layered over and over and over again. One layer of oak notes parts way to showcasing the rye in the mash bill then fades to more oak and into more rye again. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 18, 2019 (edited January 11, 2020)On the nose; dense corn fruit, vanilla, caramel, oak sugars, cherry cola syrup. Toffee, vanilla, cherry coke, oak barrel spice, pipe tobacco all mingle together pleasantly in the mouth. The oak spice slightly out punches the other notes but not harshly so. The finish has a caramel cream and medicinal cherry note that’s a touch sour.
