Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Bourbon (2024 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 20, 2024Kentucky Bourbon Festival Capsule Review: Nose: Faint vanilla Palate: Grain, fragrant (almost soapy) Finish: Medium As I experience the Grain to Glass pours on my travels, I would be in general agreement that the Bourbon ranks last of the three. -
Kentucky Bourbon Festival Capsule Review: Nose: Cherry, vanilla, and the classic grape notes that come with Buffalo Trace products Palate: Oak, barrel char, some spice Finish: Short For me the best part of this is the nose, it's a fine sipper but on this occasion, I wish I had more of what I liked on the nose on the palate.

Kentucky Bourbon Festival Capsule Review: Nose: Apple Palate: Light sweetness, thin Finish: Short with baking spices This is barely a pour you'd want neat- but that's the point. This 1-liter, low-price point bottle was designed to be in bar wells and rails. Something versatile for cocktails that won't break the bank yet a true bourbon. This fits that bill to a T.

Nose: Light vanilla, oak, some astringency Palate: Soft caramel and a quick transition to a... Finish: Short finish, with some lingering bitterness with some pepper The proof is in the pudding: this 80-proofer is thin, simple, but knows what bourbon is supposed to be. While this will get some notice because of the actors behind the brand and unlike other celebrity spirits, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley claim to be more hands-on in the process. For what this is there's nothing wrong with it, however for the celebrity premium you'll pay there are more affordable options that will give you a similar experience.

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2023-04 "The Storyteller Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 8, 2024Nose: Oak, hint of orange, vanilla, a little bit of cinnamon Palate: Caramel then transitions smoothly to baking spices Finish: Long, allows those baking spices to linger further This one is more on the sweeter side and while you can feel the strength like most Booker's batches, the journey is much more comfortable. -
Nose: Vanilla, fragrant, sweet Palate: Vanilla, hint of caramel, overall sweet, with some rough edges Finish: Short, baking spices with lingering sweetness and a little tannic bitterness This is what a flagship Jim Beam should be. The benefits of extra age and a few extra proof points really makes a difference. Now the end result isn't going to blow anyone's socks off. This is still a simple, thin, basic bourbon that hits the required sweet notes. It's on the cusp of being a solid sipper, but at this price point this could easily be the well staple of any bar.

Nose: Apricot, peach, grape Palate: Vanilla, buttercream, caramel, and a hit of oak Finish: short, fades away pretty quick, a little tannic oak. This wheared bourbon has a medium body and hits all the soft sweet notes as expected. A great nose and a solid palate, would like to see more from tue finish. Otherwise a fine example of the qualoty Willet brings.12.0 USD per PourNickel City

Crowded Barrel McGimmick Single Grain Whiskey Finished in an Armagnac Barrel
Single Grain — USA
Reviewed July 27, 2024Nose: Vanilla Palate: Sugary sweet Finish: Medium length, sweet saccharine A 15 year old light whiskey made from 99% corn, 1% barley bottled at 120 proof. This whiskey spent 34 days in an 80 gallon Armagnac cask for finishing. A sweet pour, perhaps I need to spend more time with it but at first impression it's a bit too sweet to enjoy neat.
