Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 28, 2019 (edited November 17, 2019)Medium to full body, light smoke and peat, fresh and crisp fruit. More complicated than an Ikea bookcase but much more fun to take apart. Meaty but sweet. Can a scotch be grain-feed and organic? This tastes like what I think scotch must have tasted like 40 years ago. Sometimes the simplest labels house the best products. This is one of those times. If you’re a fan of Speysides and Islay this is your jam. -
Tobacco leaves, smoke and sweet with a very light wine finish. Beyond complex. A truly unique blend that has this blended hater equal parts confounded and amazed. If you like scotch you’ll be gushing over this higher than average abv gem. Buy this ASAP or you’ll be missing our on why the Japanese are light years ahead of the game.

Gooderham & Worts Eleven Souls
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed February 17, 2019 (edited September 17, 2020)An exception to the rule that Canadian whiskeys are all basically the same. Baking spice perfectly balanced with a menagerie of sweets. A bit of burn but otherwise smooth finish. One of the best blended Canadian whiskeys out there. -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2018 Fino Cask Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 21, 2018 (edited November 17, 2019)Classic Laphroaig mixed with dry stonefruit and a mildly bitter/peppery finish. Complex, but deviates from expectations a little too much to rank with their best annuals. Still a must-try for Peatheads.
