Tastes

The port finish is strong on the nose with chocolate cherries, dark fruits, and vanilla. Caramel, dark chocolate ganache, and raisins are key flavors leading to a long bittersweet finish.

On the nose there is orange mist, new compost, vanilla, and baking spices. The sherry finish is extremely evident on the tongue along with malt, vanilla, and palm oil.

Apple, rose, citrus, apricot, and lily of the valley are some of the aromas. On the tongue, it has a honey toffee note with vanilla and wet leaves.

On the nose there is medical ointment, earth, lemon squares, and vanilla. You can taste the dessert wine along with medicinal notes and slight decaying, earthy flavors.

Dark fruits like dates permeate the nose along with ointment and compost. The malaga finish is very evident on the tongue with notes of raisins and tamarind.

Apricot, dead leaves, grass, salt, and powdered sugar are notes on the nose. It is reminiscent of a fruitcake on the tongue.

Green apples, paint thinner, butterscotch, and burnt tires are some of the aromas. The mouth feel is thin with notes of ointment and butterscotch toffee. It's an easy drinker but don't believe all the hype.

This is one of those classic low-tide smelling drams. It smells like a bog, pure and simple. The peat is strong but the burn is very subtle for the proof. There is a medicinal ointment-like sweetness with an oaky backbone. This is an amped-up version of the classic Laphroaig expression.
