Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed April 28, 2020 (edited October 20, 2020)This is my first Rye after having some reserves about a Rye whiskey and this absolutely disappointed me because I was wrong. This is great. On the nose I get sweet sweet honey and a bit of caramelizedgreen apple. I know honey is sweet but, I had to exaggerate the sweet because of how amazingly sweet this is on the nose after my personal thoughts based on reviews on Rye whiskey. So on the taste I get a bit of ginger bread with of course spice and the spice definitely shows up on the finish and the finish is medium. Definitely be buying this again. -
My first Peated whisky was Johnnie Walker Double black and that was full on Campfire on the nose. I was expecting and bracing myself for it but, on the nose I got a brand new DOCs smell with milk chocolate. The taste was a sweet black cherry and the finish was short and a noticeable spice. (Not too much or barely enough but, definitely there.) Glad I bought this. I'll be buying this again.

Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 23, 2020 (edited October 20, 2020)Pretty interesting bourbon for being sourced. It's at least 4 years old and on the nose I get brown sugar with light vanilla and creme brulee. Similar notes on the taste with a short to medium finish. Very light spice. The first time I tried this I didn't let it sit but, this time I did to give it a better chance and I would definitely recommend letting it sit. I wouldn't mind having this as a daily sipper. Great price. ~$32 -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C919
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 18, 2020 (edited October 20, 2020)Absolutely surprised with how sweet this was considering that it's 68.4%. Cherry, vanilla, caramel and honey on the nose and on the taste is sweet vanilla and caramel. The finish was honey with oak and a light spice. -
Right away the nose hits you with a smokiness and it took me to a campfire memory along with dark chocolate and raisins. The taste definitely has some of the campfire as well as a little chocolate and plump sweetness under the campfire. The finish is light. It's not a go to for me because of the the nose but, it does catch my attention. Continue to drink whiskey/whisky! 😁 btw I love how idiots give a shit rating without any explanation. I wasn't a big fan of this but, there are some interesting things about it. Most likely won't buy again but, won't give a shit ass rating without an explanation.

It's definitely a sweet smelling bourbon. Nice caramel and vanilla. On the taste I get some oak and red apple. For being a 45 abv which isn't too high but, definitely slightly above average, it almost tastes watered down to a much lower abv. Orange peel on the finish and it's about a medium finish. Not something I'd request or reach for but, not bad either.

Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2020 (edited October 20, 2020)Pretty damn crazy that this only has a 3.3 overall rating. Pretty sure those ratings are from people who aren't used to 50% or just judge a whiskey based on price. This is definitely something you should try if you're a fan on Bottle in bond bourbon. I got sweet vanilla, caramel and banana bread on the nose and warm apple and caramel on the taste. The finish had some toasted oak with a light spice. I'm going to do a blind tasting in the next 2 months with Henry McKenna 10 BIB. I absolutely enjoy Henry McKenna and am curious as to which one I'd rather have. Don't trust the lower scores on this. For $15, this is an awesome buy. Hope everyone stays safe and gets through this bs so we can all continue drinking that "water of life."15.99 USD per Bottle -
Tottori ex-Bourbon Barrel Blended Japanese Whisky
Blended — Japan
Reviewed March 30, 2020 (edited September 11, 2021)It's an interesting whisky. I can definitely get the typical bourbon smells from it along with a citrusy smell and taste. The finish has a bit of an orange peel. It's not absolutely amazing but, I would still recommend this to someone who enjoys both bourbons as well as Japanese whiskies.
