6/8/18 update: this benefits highly from air time. definitely smooths out and becomes more drinkable A combination of sweet and spicy that just doesn't mix well. Astringent with a bite.

Picked this up during a recent trip to Ireland. This expression picks up the best parts of an IPA. Has the juicy quality of a New England IPA. Alot of orange and citrus, almost like an orange creamsicle.

*drank out of a rocks glass Nose: Even out of a rocks glass the nose the nose was amazing. I could just spend all day nosing it. lightly sweet caramel, brown sugar, vanilla. no alcohol/ethanol palate: spicy like a stick of big red gum but more cinnamon forward. despite the spicy wood flavor it doesn't bite and drinks very smooth.

*Sample @ 64.1 ABV Nose: To my surprise there was little alcohol on the nose. Familiar scents of oak and vanilla. Palate: Despite the ABV this came out with a syrupy sweetness to me. Brown sugar, oak, char, dry nuts. It's warm all the way down.

*Bottled 6/2/16, has been open for a year Nose: One of my favorite whiskeys to nose. Pleasent, lightly sweet, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar. Palate: Sweet up front, quickly gives way to leather, oak, char and smoke. Spicy throughout with some heat. Long smoky finish. Do coats your mouth.

Nose: sweet then malty. hints of honey, bananas and acetone. Palette: Malty of course. Sweet, honey upfront followed by oak, black pepper and earthiness. Oily texture, coats your mouth.
