James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Bourbon (100 Proof) Brown Label
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed September 8, 2024Smooth for its abv. Very strong rye notes in the finish, but still sweet and smooth to start. A solid rye centric bourbon. -
The Old Man of the Mountain Straight Bourbon Whiskey BIB (Tamworth Distilling)
Bourbon — New Hampshire, USA
Reviewed September 8, 2024Smooth and sweet, with a small touch of rye and oak in the finish. Not the most complex bourbon, but very nice and enjoyable. -
Henderson Small Batch American Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed April 27, 2022 (edited October 30, 2023)I gave it a 3 for its value. Far from the best whiskey I’ve drank, but for the cost I expected far worse. Strong vanilla notes and very sweet, almost like vanilla extract was added in. Drinkable, but not great. If you’re on a budget though, and not trying to impress anyone, it gets the job done. -
James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Bourbon (100 Proof) Beige Label
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed July 4, 2021 (edited May 6, 2022)Nose of vanilla and caramel. Sweet caramel forward, with a spicy peppery lingering finish. Light taste of oak, lightly tannic, overall balanced and enjoyable. -
Smoky Quartz V5 Bourbon

Reviewed June 14, 2021 (edited December 27, 2021)Sweet front of vanilla and molasses, followed by a spicy and floral finish of clove, anise, and maybe a touch of cardamom. Overall very rich and complex flavor while balanced, and enjoyable.
