Kaiyō Japanese Mizunara Oak
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed October 19, 2022 (edited February 14, 2023)Light wood and cereal aroma. I'm getting the same banana notes that Chivas regal mizunara gave me, I wonder if that's just what mizunara wood tastes like to me. Pretty creamy, light flavors but blended nicely. Sugar cane sweetness, pretty heavy vanilla, fairly long tail from the richness. Interesting and well blended, but that banana note will just never be for me. -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2022 Warehouse 1
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 17, 2022 (edited November 1, 2022)Herbal peated aroma, interesting one that I can't at all place. Medicinal. Bright and mellow for a Laphroaig, same medicinal herb flavor that curves into green wood on the tail. Great body and richness, bright, and super enjoyable up until the very end of the tail. If not for that green finish it would be magnificent. The Barrel Thief -
Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 15, 2022 (edited October 27, 2022)Strong, rich, fiery, honestly can't tell much of a difference between the regular small batch but that expression is fantastic so...no issues here. -
Glenfarclas 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 15, 2022 (edited November 13, 2022)Standard Speyside aroma, rich fruit sweetness and wood on the nose. Flavor is fruit forward, peach and grape with some gentle spice underneath and showing up more on the tail. Richer than expected, tastes kind of typical but on the well done end of typical. Nothing exciting, but above average. -
Glen Fohdry 12 Year Aiteal an Òir Single Malt
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 15, 2022 (edited October 16, 2022)Sweet and medium rich, tastes like above average Speyside. Apple and grape fruit flavors dominate, good body for balance. If you like sweet Speyside it's a good choice. -
Glen Fohdry Darach Carribbean Oak Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 29, 2022Super strong barley aroma, sweet and malty. Flavor matches the aroma well. Spicy and strong, rich and sweet underneath. Excellent blend. Richness carries the blend of sweet and spice into a nice long tail. Fantastic. -
Sweet malty aroma, perfectly blended. Enjoyable. Initial hit is light and thin, but then all the flavor rushes in on the tail. Bright sparkling spice riding a good alcohol burn. Cane sugar sweetness riding a deep wood flavor before the spice kicks in. After the tail is a lingering sharp sweetness, almost tequila like but way more enjoyable. Much longer and better tail than expected from the medium body. Interesting journey.House Spirits Distillery
