Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2018 (edited November 30, 2018)Lots of alcohol and wood on the nose, tastes a bit better with water to cut the bite. Lots of spice, with wood on the tail. Wood is dark though, seems different from oak. Very unique wood flavor, wonderful. -
Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 4, 2018 (edited November 30, 2018)Fruit and oak notes at first, alcohol a little sharp while neat, I taste more oak than anything else I think. I think I smell vanilla too. Good richness, burns for a while. Some spice shows up once you add water. Pretty balanced, water helps the flavors. Woodsmoke and fruit. -
Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2018 (edited September 11, 2022)All caramel and sweetness first, then lots of oak at the end. Flavor evolves very clearly, burn is balanced perfectly. Hot damn. This whiskey is perfect. -
Bulleit 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2018 (edited November 30, 2018)Super strong vanilla nose, very perfumey. Too strong to start, tons of wood and vanilla flavor. Too much alcohol for my taste, even with water. -
Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2018 (edited November 30, 2018)115 proof, so you feel the burn, but the richness makes it okay. Flavor spreads for a long time, subtle spice mostly. Super long tail end. Lovely.
