Tastes

This is dessert in a glass. Heavy dark fruit, raisins, and blackberry jam. Slight ethanol burn, but goes away quickly and I'm left with sweet dark fruit and sherry.

Definitely spicy. The finish lingers with the same spice along with oak and pine needles.

Wow! So much different than any other rye. Was doing a tasting and it turned into drinking! This first bottle is not going last long. Will definitely be keeping this in the collection.

A lot of spice and burn. Slightly too much for me at this point in my whiskey drinking experience, but overall it's the vanilla and berry notes that keep me drinking. Once the bottle is finished I don't think I'll replace it in my collection.

I like everything about this. The nose, taste, and finish. Not one is overwhelming, but nothing is spectacular. For me it's well rounded and pleasant to drink. Butterscotch and vanilla sit on the palate, but not too long. I will definitely keep this supplied in my collection.

Had many bourbons before trying this. Always skipped over it on the shelf due to my belief that it would be the typical burning bourbon with not much to it. Finally picked up a bottle and was pleasantly surprised. Offered far more than I was expecting. Good vanilla on the nose. Hit with a lot of rye spice on the taste and the finish was short lived with fading rye spice, sweetness, oak, and vanilla. I will not seek it out to drink, but will keep it in my collection to sip every now and then. Once it's gone I will probably not replace it.

Good caramel and herb with the nose. Too much ethenol in the mouth. I needed to add a little water to take away the bite.

I'm going to have to revisit this once I have more experience. Nose does not match the mouth. I have a strong suspicion it's the smoke.

Nose is all green apple jolly rancher. Mouth is light green apple liquid from a backed apple pie.

The nose I get strong vanilla and spice. Mouth I get green apple. This was my first Rye. I like it.
