Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 19, 2020 (edited December 28, 2020)For people that like balvenie double wood 12 years, you definitely like that one as they taste pretty similar. Although I found balvenie slightly better, perhaps I should let sit longer as a lot of people comment on this. The nose wasn't strong mostly fruity and some citrus note. No alcohol smell. The taste I definitely taste the sherries, fruity note, apple, chocolate, honey. And the finish taste like cinnamon and it warm but doesnt last long. As a Speyside I definitely recommend it. Although If I had the choice i think I prefer the Aberlour 10 years old.56.0 CAD per Bottle -
Not a bourbon fan, but I actually enjoy that one. Nose have some spice and the the palate I can taste the rye, spice and some sweet note, honey and apple. The finish is more future as the spice fade away. Really enjoyable. The first sip got some burn but after the second sip is really enjoyable.30.0 CAD per Bottle

On the nose, strong taste of alcohol can't really smell anything else. On the taste, smoky, probably peat and strong oak taste whit hint of honey. The finish doesn't last long and mostly smoke..it's drinkable neat, but not enjoyable. Definitely a mixer. for the same price I prefer ballantines finest.

I agree with a lot of reviewer you need to let it sit a few min before enjoy it. It opened up. Got some caramel, vanilla perhaps coffe and chocolate with spice I cant really described. Finish doesn't linger but is enjoyable almost candy like. I don't think it would be a daily drinker but on discount at 25$ cad it alright neat and wouldn't mind as a mixer.25.0 CAD per Bottle

Buffalo Trace Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2020 (edited September 11, 2020)On the taste, got vanilla, caramel, sweetness and spice most likely cinnamon and oak. At the finish I got some cherry. Oily but flavor doesn't last long. I definitely more a scotch guys but I enjoy it, nice introduction to bourbon and most likely will buy again35.0 CAD per Bottle -
Smell is pretty light a hint of fruity note not unpleasant but not great either. No burn at all, but also no taste at all. A hint of sweet, maybe fruit like pear, vanilla Definitely have some of the flavor of a typical Speyside but 10 times less strong. It probably a really young whisky . Everything disappear almost immediately the finish disappear so fast that is hard to distinguish the flavor except for perhaps vanilla and butterscotch that lingered It's drinkable and for the price I can see why some enjoy, but I probably wont buy anymore. Even ballantines that around 25$ cad in my area at regular price is more complexe and a better choice neat or as a mix.38.0 CAD per Bottle

Floral, fruity smell with hint of nuts. A little bit peat or light smoke that lingered in finish. I can taste the caramel and coconut and also have some kind of pepper. It does remind of some bourbon. Overall a decent scotch, but not necessarily one that I will keep in my collection.45.0 CAD per Bottle

On the nose I only smell brown sugar. The taste is almost non existent got a hint of brown sugar and vanilla but that about it. Not the worst I have, It drinkable neat but wouldn't recommended as it got barely no flavor. Like crown royal it was made for non-whisky drinker. For mix it alright did a highball with lime soda water couldn't even taste the whisky. At 15-17$CAD could be good for mixing but that about it.17.0 USD per Bottle
