Gold Bar American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — (blended & bottled in California), USA
Reviewed April 7, 2023Smell is a strong ethanol/vodka. Can smell some grain and faint oak. It sweet. The taste is ordinary, some sweet caramel and maybe fruity, perhap pear. Thr gold bar is pretty much a marketing ploy, because the whisky is less then valuable. It not a bad whisky, but it definitely a budget one, nothing really special about that one.30.0 USD per Bottle -
Smell is enjoyable, kind of rhum and caramel. On the taste you can tell it was aged in barrel rhum you have a hint of it and at first you got a oaky taste with some fruit that unfortunately i can really tell and definitely got a strong caramel tsste with some spice. The finish is enjoyable creamywith spice and linger for a while. I compare with the forty creek barell reserve and i dont find it better just different, but more expensive.

On the nose I smell corn ethanol and if sit for a little bit I can smell some caramel/brown sugar. On the taste it remind of cheap vodka mix with caramel and a faint hint of spice (cinnamon maybe) that disappear almost right away. Took me a few sip to notice it. And it doesn't really have a finish it disappear so quick. It definitely a cheap whiskey that would have is place in a mixed like with a Coke. It would be fine if it was sale in a plastic bottle, below 20 $Cad. The problem is it sold between 35-40$Cad and advertise as a hand crafted whisky that pay hommage to the RCAF. As a veteran I found that of poor taste if you not gonna bother to put a quality product in the bottle.35.0 CAD per Bottle

On the nose I only smell ethanol, after rubbing it in my hand was able to got a hint of vanilla and some sweetness, perhaps caramel but difficult to tell. On the taste, I taste cinnamon, some pepper and weirdly remind me of bazooka bubble gum. The finish disappear really quick. I would said in my opinion, is inferior to crown royal (not a fan neat) and slightly better then Silk Tassel. Maybe used at a mixer, but at that price, got way better budget option whisky.29.0 CAD per Bottle

Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 7, 2023 (edited January 19, 2023)If you want to slowly introduced someone to Scotch that probably will be the one I choose. On the nose, it fruity, I can smelll pears, honey, maybe orange or citrus. For the taste, I got honey, some orange, pears or apple not quite sure and a vanilla taste. the finish is oily but enjoyable and slowly revealed a taste of nutty chocolate. For the price you cannot go wrong with Glenmorangie 10 years old. It's a perfect Highland whisky for beginner, but still quit pleasant for veterans. If you prefer Smokey and peaty whisky then you be disappointed.60.0 CAD per Bottle -
On the nose i just smell coffee or perhap close to a dark beer like a stout. it's taste like a creamy iced coffee that have been left far too long before drinking it with a slight hint of whisky. It probably would have been interesting if the proof was above 40%. At 30% I can barely taste the whisky and the finish disappear right away. Might used in a mixed drink or in a hot day with milk and ice if I want a iced coffee drink. If you like coffee you probably enjoy it, but if you want to actually taste whisky, stay clear.30.0 CAD per Bottle
