Campfire log in a glass... Way too smokey.

Unmistakable cherry wood on the nose. Complex palette with smooth heat on the finish. Not necessarily an easy drinker, but a solid try at something unique.

Drinkable, but but not my favorite. Something is just a little off on the finish. And, a surprising amount of heat on the back end for something that falls pretty flat on the sip.

Not the worst bourbon I've ever had, but definitely a mixer at best. Tastes young and maybe a high rye content..?

Let's get this out of the way... It's a great bourbon for under $50 and especially when you forget that your drinking something over 100 proof. That said, it's just not distinct. It just goes down easy enough that you forget you're drinking cheap bourbon. I prefer something with a little more complexity and would drink Elijah Craig over this any day. But, with how rarely I can find it, I'll buy it everytime I see it!

I received this as a gift and tried it neat without knowing anything about it. The overwhelming oak blew me away on the first sip. Another taste or two and the pallette opens up a bit more into cacoa and leather with a lasting sweetness. I wouldn't make it a daily sipper, but I'll probably throw it in my next blind tasting to see if the screw top was an initial bias.

Tried the 12 year old and was impressed. Found this on the shelf and did a side by side. Absolutely fantastic! Cherry and cotton candy. Bites a bit, but not as much as I'd expect for 105. One of my favorite pours.

The Sherry cask adds a level of complexity that the normal bourbon is missing. Also helps smooth out the overall profile.
