Let's get this out of the way... It's a great bourbon for under $50 and especially when you forget that your drinking something over 100 proof. That said, it's just not distinct. It just goes down easy enough that you forget you're drinking cheap bourbon. I prefer something with a little more complexity and would drink Elijah Craig over this any day. But, with how rarely I can find it, I'll buy it everytime I see it!

I received this as a gift and tried it neat without knowing anything about it. The overwhelming oak blew me away on the first sip. Another taste or two and the pallette opens up a bit more into cacoa and leather with a lasting sweetness. I wouldn't make it a daily sipper, but I'll probably throw it in my next blind tasting to see if the screw top was an initial bias.
