Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed October 23, 2017 (edited January 26, 2018)Great all-rounder as it has Speyside, Highland and Island character to it! Nose: Sherry, sweet and a hint of peat. Taste: more peat up front but still not more than 10 ppm, followed by a sweet and fruity character of the Sherry casks. All of this is balanced with a spiciness from the oak and distinct toffee notes. Finish: medium warm dry finish All in all a great balanced and complex Single Malt for 12 years and a great bargain for beginners and experienced drinkers. -
Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum
Aged Rum — Venezuela
Reviewed October 23, 2017 (edited October 24, 2017)Nose: A sweet red wine note and cooked dark fruits with cinnamon. All in all the nose is very reminiscent of a good port wine. Taste: sweet and fruity arrival. Cinnamon, grapes, caramel and toffee with dark brown sugar hanging over everything. A drop of water reduces the sugar and brings the oak up front. Finish: surprising long dry finish with citrus and a pleasant oak. All in all a great bargain for a sipping rum with a distinct fruity wine note. Will buy it again despite being a little bit to much on the sweet side for me. -
Nose: fruity, sweet, vanilla. Taste: very sweet up front, lots of Sherry with vanilla and some oak with a small alcohol burn in the end. For 10 years this dram is full bodied and well matured. Finish: medium long pleasant dry oaky finish. All in all this is a hell of a dram considering the price tag.

Nose: dry sherry, alcohol, citrus and dark fruits. Taste: toffee upfront, with sweet, citrus and oak following. Then burned caramel takes over. Finish: Citrusy oaky finish with lots of dark chocolate and oak in the end. This dram is one of the best low to medium prized sherry whiskys. The direct heating of the pot stills brings a lovely caramel note to the whisky.

Nose: smoky bacon, citrus and sherry. Taste: smoky upfront, vanilla, citrus and mouthwatering sherry sweetness with a faint pepper note. Finish: long pleasant oaky finish. All in all a great dram. I don't smell the salty character told to it but it fills the shoes to be an introduction to islay single malts brilliantly.

Nose: vanilla, pear, a bit rough character with a savory note. Taste: stormy (I know it's cheesy to bring that up), sweet vanilla and caramel. Then oak and the famous Talisker chilly catch takes you to a long charred oaky finish. in general this is a okay whisky but it's a bit too ruff for me and for the price I would rather but the 10yo or even Talisker Skye is more value in my opinion.

Old Pulteney 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 23, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Nose: sweet vanilla with salty citrus notes. The taste is very much on par with the nose as there is vanilla, salt, sweetness, caramel and some lemon that takes you to a citrusy oaky finish with a hint of caramel that stays for quite some time that reveals some charred burned wood. In summary this is a beautifully balanced coastal bourbon matured malt that is absolutely worth the money and I highly recommend to try it out! 94/100 considering the price tag -
Nose: green apples, vanilla and sugar. The taste is everything you expect from a bourbon matured whisky. There is vanilla, caramel, sugar, citrus and a very faint oak that knocks at the door during the medium long finish along with some pear and charred wood. This is not the most complex dram but still is very well made and a great pleasure to have in the shelf and enjoy every now and then.
