Jack Daniel's Old No. 7
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 17, 2020 (edited November 18, 2024)An easy drinking whiskey, albeit a bit one-dimensional. On the palate I get banana and a sort of chemical-tasting vanilla. The finish is incredibly short and contains hints of brown sugar. Not the most complex whiskey, but it's a nice easy-drinking one, either neat or on the rocks. It's definitely understandable why this is one the best selling whiskies in the world. -

An interesting expirimental whiskey by Jim Beam, though you have to love the taste of wood in order to appreciate it. This is definitely one of the most woody whiskeys I've ever tasted. There are also notes of caramel, honey and cinnamon, but the wood taste is definitely more dominant. I consider this a 'cult' whiskey; you either love it or hate it. For the price though, it's a great value and you get a bourbon with an interesting backstory.

A solid introductory bourbon, especially if you like more spicy whiskies. Though the palate is a bit one-dimensional, Bulleit Bourbon is a highly enjoyable dram. The main thing that sets it apart from most bourbons is the orange peel taste; something I haven't tasted yet in other bourbons. I'm also quite fond of the bottle design.

A decent bourbon, but in the Netherlands you can get Buffalo Trace, Makers Mark or Bulleit for the same price. These three bourbons also each have something unique going for them in terms of taste; in comparison, Evan Williams Black Label doesn't really stand out in any way (except maybe that it tastes a bit sharper due to it being 86 proof). A good bourbon for beginners, but if you're an experienced Bourbon drinker I think you'll be a bit bored by it.
