Nose: Heather, sherry and a wiff of smoke up front. More herbal notes that are very reminiscent of ardbeg but nicer! Palate: Dry sherry and dried fruits with a surprising strong peat for HP. The sherry is not as intense as with the HP17-Dark but rather much better integrated. The finish is long lasting with dry smoke. (90/100)95.0 EUR per Bottle

Nose: On the nose I find sherry sweetness and honey. I you give the whisky a little but more time the nose turns sour. I find beeswax, sour apples and some glue. Palate: It starts with intense honey sweetness which transforms into dry sherry, faint smoke and peaches, which ultimately leads to pleasant but rather flat oak. Finish: short and not memorable with a herbal note that is far off the pleasant ardbeg herbs and is rather unpleasant for me. Conclusion: I was rather disappointed with this whisky. It's a rather standard expression and overpriced. (72/100)76.0 EUR per Bottle

On the nose you'll find green apples, some caramel and literally an entire farm of vanilla followed by raisins and a touch of rum. Taste: The rum influence comes right up front, followed by vanilla, sugar cane and gentle oak. Conclusion: It lacks some complexity however, the rum is well integrated in the balvenie house style and results in a pleasant and smooth dram. In general a reference for rum maturation. This is the first Glengoyne I taste and certainly not the last, as this is a beautiful expression: Nose: The initial smell is terrific. First I get cinnamon, all spice and then the sherry fruits take over with grapes, rum raisins and with time it gets lighter with pineapple and maybe pears. Taste: The palate delivers all of what the nose is promising. You get dark brown sugar, caramel. dark fruits (nothing to distinct but very pleasant), rum notes again and lighter fruits take you to a very pleasant long lasting finish that develops over time. There a coffee and dark chocolate notes underlying in the nose and on the palate however, they really shine through in the finish. Conclusion: That's a brilliantly made dram. The nose and taste are very aligned (sth. I very much appreciate!) and perfectly represent an old sherry whisky. I guess there is a lot of Oloroso casks involved in the maturation and I highly recommend this Glengoyne expression. (92/100)89.0 EUR per Bottle

Nose: sherry, vanilla and initially a hint of smoke. followed by spices and cinnamon in particular. Taste: sweety fruity arrival. It gets dry and salty with figs, oak and Oloroso sherry. The finish is rather short and undefined. All in all a decent but rather forgettable drum. I like the package with natural colour, higher proof and without chillfiltration but does not fit my palate to well. (80/100)
