Tastes

This bottle tastes a little old and chalky but still the classic notes shine through. Leaps and bounds better than its successor “Small Batch” which tastes like a 4 year old meant-for-well drinks bummer.

Hot at first, almost in excess. Water and/or time opens it a bit and it’s quite nice. Hard to take neat which is always a bummer to me

The barrel is prevalent. Or in this case the staves. The base whiskey is muddy with no identity but whatever infusion method they use, while they admit it’s sac religiously obtained, the result is pretty flavorful.

I understand aging in port barrels.I don’t understand simply mixing whiskey with port as it looks and tastes like it was done here. Too similar to wine for me to repeat purchase.

My personal favorite Jameson. Smooth and hot...nice balance of caramel, fruit and char. Great whiskey

This is just such an outstanding pour. So balanced And the price point is ridiculously cheap for what’s inside. God bless Buffalo Trace.

This is intense. So hot I needed water to enjoy and l rarely can say that. That being said, neat I found it to be nutty, earthy, spicy and complex. After a splash of water it unravels a bit and allows vanilla, peppermint and other goodies to tumble out. This is a tough one. I almost think the proof needs to be dropped slightly or it needs a bit more aging. This is good but it has potential to be so much more.

Clear whiskey is just not right. There is something I don’t like about the lack of wood sugars. That being said this still packs a Smokey punch but without the caramel and oak and vanilla it seems incomplete.

Can’t get over the part that tastes like chocolate covered cherries. The bottle itself is a little presumptuous but the juice is solid. Much better after it rests on the shelf a week or two after opening.
