Don Julio Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 17, 2019 (edited May 11, 2021)I wanted to love this. I dont. The nose is excellent. All warm vanilla. The finish falls flat. Again not as good as the blanco. There’s a strange earthy citrus in there I don’t love. -
Don Julio Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 17, 2019 (edited May 11, 2021)Very smooth yet oddly not as good as the blanco. There’s an off flavor I can’t put my finger in. Some wood tannin thats just a bit bitter and weird. -
Don Julio Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 17, 2019 (edited May 11, 2021)Very smooth. Price point is a little outlandish as there are several other labels I find to be just as good for half the cost but this is a pioneer and it’s very enjoyable. -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2019 (edited May 11, 2021)Price point here is undeniably excellent. Purists may throw their shoe at me, but I like this more than the old age statement version. The old Elijah Craig 12 was almost too frosting-like. This has more depth and complexity. Keep in mind this side by side was also with a bottle of EC 12 that had been open for over a year and it’s possible this affected the outcome. -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 30, 2019 (edited April 12, 2019)Really is excellent. Wood smoke, tobacco, salt water, chocolate, cherry, Apple, and a long ass finish. I felt water destroyed this all and turned into honey. But neat? Doesn’t get much better from what I know 🔥💨🍎🍐🍒🥞🥓☕️🚬11.0 USD per PourKeegan's Grill -
The new packaging is great. The whiskey...is coming along. This should not have been released yet. The whiskey is too young. Minimum of two years it says, Maximum of two years it is. It’s a bit too sweet and unbalanced. The malt bill carries the day here, much like the beer it’s distilled from however there’s just not quite enough depth to make it worth the money. Yet. Rogue has come along way with their spirits and they are showing strides of improvement and don’t seem to be slowing down. I look forward to when they really get the patience to release some mature fine tuned product.9.0 USD per PourKeegan's Grill
