Tastes

Nose: stewed fruits, winter spice, tree bark, heather, citrus peel, cardboard. Pallet: sherry, oak, ginger, cocoa, tannins, pepper, cream Finish: spice, rich Pete, cocoa, chilli, sweet.

It reminds me of everything I hate about McAllen and the highly sherried blended whiskies. The likes of Famous grouse, bells etc. It’s OK. But I wouldn’t rush to buy this

Nose: tannins, oak, cloves, berries and vanilla, Pallet: oak, smoked red meat, chocolate, red wine, oranges, sugar and pepper. Finish: oak, sugar, spice, peppery kick.

Nose: acetone, lemons, vanilla notes. Flower hints. Pallet: candied lemon, orange peel, sugar, young ethanol notes. Vanilla and spicy oak Finish: short, walnuts, sugar.

Nose: lemon/citrus notes, stewed fruit, caramel, wood, floral notes. Pallet: woody oak. Pepper, sweetness Finish: lots of sweetness, oak, peppery notes and a young kick/burn

Nose: Raisins, ethenol, grapes, port or fortified wine, ginger, Licorice, citrus peel, notes of bitter chocolate and oak. Pallet: raisins, licorice, black treacle, nuts. Bitter chocolate and fruits. Acrid tannins and bitter Perfume notes. Finnish: bitter fruit, burnt oranges, soured raisins. Short It’s nice. But feels a little flat. Needs to be higher abv, maybe 46% or ideally 50% to really drive it home.

So much peat… Ok, so let’s get this straight. This is basically an Edradour, but better, heavy peat, and a dark red wine cask. So: Nose: peat, smoke, red wine, tannins, oak, fruits. Sugar. Pallet: drying, oaky smoke. Pepper, red wine tannins, stewed stone fruits. Spicy wood. Finish: peppery, sugar and a little dry. Long finish.

Classic Irish pot still… Nose: biscuit, cereal, caramel and vanilla. Pallet: oak, caramel, spice, fruity and cereals Finish: short, oil, grass and biscuits some pepper.

Very glennorangie. But as if it’s grown up. Lots of citrus fruit, some stone fruit, vanilla, dark oaks, sugar. Some spice and pepper. Opens up to dark chocolate and tobacco. Mild coffee notes also. Need to try again to review properly but very nice.
