Affordable on sale so gave it a shot. It’s the definition of a sherry bomb on the nose right out of the gate. I like a touch of sherry but not too much and actually in the palate it’s not as strong. It’s a mild slightly sweet scotch to taste, mildly pleasing I’d say. The finish is curious at best, certainly not what I’d expect or want. Might buy again if on sale.47.0 CAD per BottleCalgary AB

Aberfeldy 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 23, 2021 (edited November 26, 2021)This is an outstanding scotch. I’m also a big 12 yr Aberfeldy fan for a daily drinker but the 21 is a massive step up, as you would expect for the vintage. Caramel dominates mixed with light fruitiness. Not much heat to it but nonetheless a lasting and pleasant finish.135.0 CAD per BottleCalgary AB -
Benriach The Twelve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 6, 2021 (edited January 28, 2022)An almost perfect blend of sweet and heat. Really nice combo of barrels as too much sherry cask is overwhelming. Love the touch of fruit on the palate but smooth woody vanilla finish. Second Benriach I’ve tried and both have exceeded price and expectations. -
Rebecca Creek Fine Texas Spirit Whiskey
Spirit — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 30, 2021 (edited November 26, 2022)Not bad. Slightly sweet and mild. Feels like I’m having Crown on the rocks, which is fine and all, but Crown is waaay cheaper. Good one to set out when you have thirsty non-connoisseurs coming over haha. -
Glen Deveron 16 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 2, 2021 (edited November 27, 2022)Folks are pretty harsh in their reviews given the price point for this bottle. Yes it’s thin on character and no real peat influence, if that’s what your after. If you want an easy drinker that’s high on fruit flavours and short on finish and heat then you may like this one. Just don’t expect to impress friends with it as an interesting 16 year old. Buy again? Yes, if on sale
