Glendalough 13 Year Mizunara Finish
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed March 14, 2018 (edited March 31, 2018)[Whiskey Live NY 2018] - I'm very impressed with the distilleries' ingenuity on this one. I would like to hunt down a bottle for myself as a benchmark in the newest direction in Irish Whiskey maturation! -
Laphroaig 25 Year Cask Strength (2013 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 14, 2018[Whiskey Live NY 2018] - Excellent stuff by it's own right. Hits that perfumed quality you get with old malts. However, side by side with the Lore I believe it loses some of that youthful spark that drives the greatest artists of our times. -
Very strong and nutty nose. Spiced and candied Macintosh apples. The palate contains loads of cinnamon and a juicy burst of orange. The finish is long and red hot, with lingering oak. Addition of water mulls the spice and rounds out the whisky. The flavor profile becomes predominantly orange. It sort of tastes like an old fashioned. Mild vanilla arrives in the background. The nose becomes more fragrant, and the finish smooth and sweet. Not too sure where I stand on this whiskey. I can see it for what it is, but inevitably I have a bias.

Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 25, 2017 (edited September 29, 2017)A bit disappointed with this one. I have tried most of the available expressions from this distillery, being a fan of the Lasanta, Quinta Rubin, and Signet. I ordered an over priced rooftop dram from amongst the underwhelming "top shelf" selections that I've already had countless times. To be honest this almost tastes like a blend with how soft and honey sweet this is. There may have been some light fruity touches, but not enough to write home to. I think the only thing that saves this is the touch of oak spice as it opens up. It's not terrible, but it's a pass.
